On December 5th, we presented during the HIMT Annual Meeting 2018 conference hosted by the Hellenic Institute of Marine Technology, our concept for a Fully Electric, Battery Powered Day Passenger Ferry.
After the presentation we were happy to answer the many questions raised by the audience, mostly regarding the life cycle and financial challenges of such an endeavor.
Some of the issues pointed out, both in the study and during the Q&A session, regarded the financing ways by which such a project would be viable for the Greek market. We expressed our confidence that due to the nature of the platform used, with practically zero emissions, it is a strong contender to be ensured financing by both banks and EU funds.
The study was for a fully electric solution using conventional Lithium Battery stacks, but the platform can also utilize any type of hybrid technologies, as well as other technologies such as Fuel Cells (a study is currently underway, in which project our Company is participating)
For more information on the platform, you may find the complete study published in the 2018 Annual Book of Marine Technology, a copy of which may be acquired by contacting HIMT (www.elint.org.gr)
